Korean classes are beginning*
I’m happy to announce that I’ll be starting Korean evening classes at Ewha Women’s University in March. The classes are 2 hours long, 3 times a week, for 10 weeks at the cost of 640,000 won ($565 US), including the placement exam. I have been studying on my own and off and on with partners over the past 2 years but they always seem to flake out. I am excited for something more...

Pee-pee or poo-poo?
Today as I was going to the bathroom my little one, Sophia, stopped me to ask where I was going. When I told her where she said, “Well, can I ask you a question? Are you going pee-pee or poo-poo?” It was so adorable. I told her that she didn’t need to know (it was only #1) and then she said, “OK, give me a hug then!” After the hug she said, “And a kiss,”...

Day 6: Taipei, Taiwan
After a rough night of sleep I headed out of the hostel toward Xingtian Temple. I picked up some street food for breakfast. It reminded me a bit of a Korean pancake but the inside was stuffed with green veggies, egg and bacon. It was really tasty. And how could I skip Starbuck’s? Too bad they don’t have chai tea here. I’ll have to stick with a green tea latte. Also, don’t...
Day 5: Taipei, Taiwan
Tuesday, December 27, 2011
Since Jinha left on this afternoon we woke up early and ate breakfast in order to get up to see the Wulai Waterfall and ride in the cable car. It felt like we were in some sort of fairy tale. It was so beautiful and luckily, perhaps because of the rainy weather, we were just about the only ones up there. I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves. We had a really...
Day 4: Taipei, Taiwan
Monday, December 26, 2011
This was supposed to be Jinha’s last day but I convinced him to stay just one more =)
After another late start we saw the Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall. It is a famous monument erected in the memory of Chiang Kai-shek, former President of the Republic of China. We were just in time to see the changing of the guards, too. Inside there is a gallery.
Next, we rushed...
Day 3: Taipei, Taiwan
Sunday, December 25, 2011 MERRY CHRISTMAS
Today was a disappointment. We left the hotel late after eating breakfast and being lazy and went to the zoo. We ended up getting into an argument and going back to the hotel :( But we did get to see a Giant Panda.
Day 2: Taipei, Taiwan
Saturday, December 24, 2011
The two of us headed to Taipei Main Station to browse around. Jinha found this amazing restaurant named Shrimp City. It’s all you can eat. You order six dishes each time and it includes drinks and ice cream. The choices were limitless and everything we tried was really over the top. After I got over the initial ‘trying to be neat and clean’ thing, I...
Day 1: Taipei, Taiwan
Friday, December 23, 2011
I’ll try and spare you the uninteresting details of our trip (only because my feet hurt today).
Jinha and I rushed to the airport Friday after work. We almost missed our flight because we leisurely ate Burger King and weren’t paying attention to the time. We ran all the way there and boarded about 5 minutes before take-off.
The flight was pretty quick,...
My Merry Christmas from my FAMILY* →
Since I couldn’t make it home this year for Christmas my brother, Brandon, surprised me with a video of my family opening the gifts I sent them. And he was right, it’s much better than anything money can buy.
New California Hotel →
We checked into New California Hotel in Xindian, which was about an hour from the airport and a bit south of downtown Taipei. Overall, the hotel was great. There were a few oddities though. They have a central heating system or I guess, lack of. Instead, they just blow air out at you. The room was like a cold windy tunnel. After two days, Jordan from the front desk, bought us a small heater for...
Taipei, Taiwan
Well, it’s finally Christmas and with that I got a week off of work. Jinha and I decided to spend the holiday in Taipei. We flew here together and spent about 4 days in the southern area of Xindian. He just left this afternoon to go back to work in Seoul and I’ll stay on a few extra days at a hostel in downtown Taipei, called Flip Flop Hostel.
